1. The Native Mac Philosophy

Most modern cleaning software is packed with hidden analytics trackers, background telemetry daemons, and marketing beacons. DiskCompanion was deliberately built to reject this model.

DiskCompanion is a single native macOS binary engineered in Swift. When you run a scan, every calculation occurs strictly on your device’s local CPU and SSD. The software makes zero outbound network calls to analyze your storage.

2. What DiskCompanion Does (and Does NOT) Access

What the app inspects:

• File sizes and directory paths in system cache locations (e.g., ~/Library/Caches, ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData).
• APFS local snapshots and purgeable space metrics reported directly by macOS system APIs.
• Leftover preference files and container directories belonging to applications you have previously uninstalled.

What the app is permanently blocked from accessing:

• The contents of your personal documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, or presentations.
• Your Photos library, iCloud Photo stream, or private image assets.
• Your browser history, passwords, keychain entries, or saved sessions.
• Your emails, messages, contacts, or calendar entries.

3. Zero Telemetry & Analytics in the App

The DiskCompanion desktop application contains zero tracking SDKs. We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, Mixpanel, or any third-party tracking frameworks within the application.

When you launch the app, scan your drive, or clean temporary files, no event is logged or transmitted to any remote server. When you quit DiskCompanion, it completely exits and leaves zero background processes running.

4. Website & Purchase Data

When visiting our website (diskcompanion.com) or purchasing a license:

• Payments: All transactions are processed securely through certified payment providers (Stripe / Apple Pay). Your full credit card number and financial details never touch or get stored on our servers.
• License Delivery: We store your email address and license key solely to issue your receipt, validate your 3-Mac activation, and assist you with license recovery or refunds.
• Support Communications: When you email support@diskcompanion.com, your correspondence is used exclusively to answer your questions or process your refund. We never sell, rent, or share your email address.

5. Apple Notarization & Gatekeeper Security

Every release of DiskCompanion is officially inspected and cryptographically notarized by Apple’s automated notary service. Apple verifies that the code is free of malicious software and has not been tampered with before issuing an authentic notarization ticket.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

Because DiskCompanion collects no personal data or usage logs from the desktop app, there is no personal profile to delete. If you would like us to remove your purchase record or support email history from our billing system, simply email support@diskcompanion.com and we will purge your record within 48 hours.
